Now, the main question!
How to take care of skin in summer to remain hydrated or moisturised without being oily or greasy?
Traditional moisturisers or lotions are not the answer for sure because they have heavy oils, butter, waxes and humectants. Together, they give hydration and an oily protective layer to the skin, but they might feel a bit too much in summer.
The answer is a toner filled with spring water or floral water (hydrosol) after cleansing with a gentle face wash every morning & before bed. Toners or natural plant/marine waters are a rich source of minerals and antioxidants to the skin and their capacity to retain moisture inside our skin.
One of the latest scientific studies indicates that using very light, non-comedogenic oils over a toner keeps the skin's sebum production in check and avoids breakouts. It might be a recent finding but not a surprise.
Just imagine! What do we do when we lack something? We work hard to overcome the lacking, right? The same is valid with skin.
If the skin lacks natural oils, it will go into the overproduction of sebum. Opposite to this, if the skin is well moisturised and well-nourished with oils, there is no need for a sebaceous gland to produce more oil. The result is non-fragile, well balanced & more breathable skin.
If you want to try toner+oil formula, go all-natural if possible and use non-comedogenic oils only like hemp, tea tree, jojoba, sunflower, grape, almond, argan, rosehip and a few others.
